Adult Instruction

The Baie-D’Urfe Yacht Club offers Adult sailing instruction programs in both dinghies and keel boats. Programs are available for both the beginner and those who already have some experience.

Dinghy Instruction

Description: The Baie D’Urfe Yacht Club Dinghy Sailing Program is a 12-hour course taught by CYA CANSail standards. These courses will cover the knowledge and skills required to sail a double-handed dinghy safely without supervision. The instructors will respond to the varying skill levels of participants on either CL14s or Squadron 13s. Advanced sailors will train on double-handed Club 420 dinghies with three sails. These participants are taught advanced boat handling skills, which include the use of the trapeze and the spinnaker sail, and learn about sail trim and boat tuning. CANSail 3 or 4 certification may be awarded upon consistent demonstration of the skills outlined by the the CYA.

Minimum participation required for all sessions. Adults sail independently in groups of 2 or 3 with instructors in separate (motor) boats.

Students can also register for semi-private lessons which are held during above sessions but in which an instructor is present on-board with the students.
